There’s been a lot in the news lately about banks being unwilling or unable to lend money. That’s not the case at The Bank of Castile. Despite the reported credit crunch, we continue to make loans to qualified borrowers in this community – and business is brisk.

As a responsible lender, we believe that the loans we make should create value for our clients, our community, and our shareholders. Like most community banks, we did not make the subprime mortgages that helped precipitate the current crisis. As a result, our bank remains strong and well capitalized. We declined to participate in the government’s TARP program, believing that our financial strength enables us to raise capital through more conventional means, should we choose to do so.
These are challenging times.
